Called 4 TwentyOneWest for its address on Sixth Street, townhouses in the project will have three and four stories. Prices start at $365,000 and go up to $534,000.
Irene Catsibris Clary of Catclar Investments is developing the project, designed by well-known architect Bing Hu of H&S International.
“The outside of the homes is classical architecture, and the insides are contemporary,” Clary said. ” We want to design and build something very different for downtown Tempe.”
Sales started last month on the townhouses, which vary in size from 1,553 to 2,270 square feet. Eleven-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, skylights, balconies, front porches, two-car garages and Bosch appliances are standard in the houses.
The project, a few blocks east of ASU’s main campus, is being built with green elements including green fiber walls made of 85 percent recycled products.
“When I moved to Scottsdale in 2000, we spent New Year’s Eve in Tempe. I loved the energy,” she said. “I knew right then a beautifully designed townhome product combined with proximity to all the amenities and employment centers would be well-received in the area.”
The 4 TwentyOneWest project is Clary’s third townhome development in the Valley designed by Hu. The other two are in Scottsdale and Carefree. The duo is working on a fourth townhome development in north Scottsdale.
